A few minutes away from the port of Corfu, the small island of Vido is a tranquil place with a number of beautiful peaceful beaches. Efforts have been made in order to turn the island into a bird sanctuary, with pheasants, quails, rabbits and other animals being moved there.

Corfu Golf Club was founded in 1971 and designed by the English architect Don Harradine. It is one the oldest golf courses in Corfu, and one of the most famous courses in Greece. The course blends seamlessly into the picturesque Ropa Valleay and the expectedly designed hazards make it perfect for both low and high handicap players.

Spianada Square

Spianada Square

Spianada is the biggest square in South-Eastern Europe and one of the largest in Europe, incorporating a cricket field and several pavilions. An ornate music pavilion is also present, where the local Philharmonic Orchestras mount classical performances in the artistic and musical tradition for which the island is well-known. In Corfu you can find a large variety of traditional, homemade products. Tomatoes are usually treated with salt and kept in the sun until they lose the majority of their water content without losing their nutritional value.

Paleokastritsa beach

Paleokastritsa beach

This is the beach where, according to Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus met the princess Nausicaa after the sea god Poseidon turned his ship to stone. Paleokastritsa is the most famous beach of Corfu; above it lies the 12th century monastery of Theotokos.

Paleokastritsa (5km away from The Olive Tree House) is Corfu's most famous area for scuba diving. The area is full of spectacular caverns and caves, mysterious shipwrecks, reefs, invertebrates and colorful fish. Certified trainers will ensure beginners' underwater safety.

A large number of dance clubs, cocktail bars, cafés and restaurants keep Corfu lively all year. A wide range of events, from live jazz bands to beach side partying, take place regularly.

Corfu town is famous for its Italianate architecture. Also notable are the Venetian-Roman style Town Hall, the recently restored Palace of Sts. Michael and George and the Palace of Mon Repos, formerly the property of the Greek royal family and birthplace of the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Liapades village is in walking distance of The Olive Tree House and has an impressive coastline. You can rent a boat or take a water taxi to many of the beautiful beaches, which aren’t accessible by land.
